Reteaching Gender & Sexuality presents fresh perspectives on gender and sexual diversity. We produce media and other educational resources about the shifting dynamics of gender and sexuality among young people. We use these as tools to facilitate dialogue in communities and among students and practitioners in youth-serving professions. It’s a creative and pragmatic approach with a cross-sector impact.

We’re an intergenerational team of mediamakers and community educators. We center young people’s voices and move them to the forefront of conversations about young people’s lives. We work to support grassroots education and advocacy efforts by and for local communities.

THIS IS ABOUT WAY MORE THAN BULLIES

Reteaching Gender & Sexuality provides strategies to move beneath end-result catastrophes by looking to the root causes of violence and isolation in our communities. Our campaign calls on and supports schools, government, service providers, organizations, and faith groups to take initiative in improving policies and practices. We provide professional development training and consulting. We support local community efforts by sharing our tools and exchanging ideas.

TOGETHER, WE CAN SHIFT THE CONVERSATION

Reteaching Gender and Sexuality is about rethinking the popular narratives about gender and sexuality. We focus on intersecting identities, queer youth action and resilience, creating more liberating spaces, and institutional accountability. In doing so, we believe we can create positive shifts in the way we talk about gender and sexuality in the media,  with our families, at school, within academia, in policy-making, and in our communities.
